Zombie Disco Squad - Twerk feat. DJ Funk

Posted by Meesh Nah on May 14, 2012

Here it is.  The second single from Zombie Disco Squad is out today - a massive teaser for the debut album Brains which is out at the end of may.  Watch this space!

Twerk feat. Dj Funk is all claps and low slung bass, bouncing through old school vocal snaps and a monster of a bassline. Showcasing the darker side of Brains, it's dancefloor catnip for those who like to get down and dirty, whilst  'Ibiza Hooligan' employs woozy synths and a subtly menacing chord progression, building to a massive break before snapping back into its percussive groove.  Start your monday off with a boom.

Out now on Beatport!

Gene's debut EP on Made To Play is a powerhouse of funky, deft guitar licks and pounding grooves. 'House Shoez' shows off his knack for combining tongue-in-cheek vocals with a seriously jacking sound. The EP will be out the 23rd, exclusively on Beatport. Celebrate our 50th with us!

Zombie Disco Squad - Righteous Sound

Posted by Meesh Nah on Mar 19, 2012

It's here - the first single of Zombie Disco Squad's debut LP on Made To Play!  A guaranteed peak-time weapon with one of the biggest hooks we have released yet, 'Righteous Sound' is a stomping, infectious track featuring the rich vocals of soul star Omar over the percussive groove you've come to expect from Zombie Disco Squad.  In addition to the dub and acapella, Jesse Rose's edit adds even more oomph to the package, streamlining the original's catchiness into a no-nonsense partystarter.

Available today exlusively from Beatport!

Jesse Rose and Oliver $ join forces for a unique mixtape, free to download for all our friends and family.

Inspired by the free tapes that characterize the hip-hop scene, Jesse and Oliver twisted up an 80's acapella compilation into 8 brand new tracks... Selections will be out on vinyl later this year, and the guys are currently touring cities near you to promote the project, so don't miss out!

Be sure to check out the recent interview on ResidentAdvisor as well. Enjoy the tape!

Filtertypen - On The Streets

Posted by Meesh Nah on Feb 29, 2012

Hi guys, hope you are ready for our second release of the year!

Filtertypen are an exciting house outfit from Hannover that heavily bring the funk in their floorfilling productions, and we are proud to have them debut on Made To Play.

Title track ‘On The Streets’ is a slowly building monster, plodding along carefully triggered boom-bap vocal samples and laidback keys that belie its ability to make you groove along. It reminds mostly of a certain early 90’s hip-hop sensibility, fusing classic elements of rhythmic funk and emotive soul with an in-your-face aesthetic that promises nothing but good vibes on the dance floor. On the flip side, ‘Wrong Track’ fires straight into organ-heavy house territory, heavily bending the warm sounds of a Hammond B3 into a tongue-in cheek build which drops into dance floor mayhem. This EP  promises nothing but a very warm 2012 for the soulful German duo. Grab it now, exclusively on Beatport!

Graphics - Mama Grizzlies

Posted by Meesh Nah on Jan 23, 2012

First of all, happy new year! We all hope that 2012 has started with a bang for all our friends and fans.

We're certainly excited about our first release of the year - ‘Mamma Grizzlies’ is the debut single on Made To Play by the up'n'coming Graphics - if you haven't heard of him thus far, you certainly will do in 2012.

The title track is undoubtedly a beast, a mournful opening lyric is soon over taken by heavy rhythms and darker vocals. It’s a massive party track but underpinned by an emo sensibility. The second original entitled ‘Colour Her Hair, is all driving tribal drums and a repetitive almost dismissive vocal, that whilst perhaps at odds with the persistent rhythm, underpins it with some much needed emotive resonance.

The first of three remixes comes from Roska who almost entirely dispenses with any of the sombreness of the original unloading a UK funky laden call to arms. The second remix comes from MTP stalwarts Prince Club who pull the blinds on Roska’s sunshine and climb into Mamma Grizzlie’s winter hibernation den. The final remix comes from Switzerland’s David Keno who manipulates ‘Mamma Grizzlies’ fusing his trademark melodic sound with the jump up rhythms of the original to transform the track into a minimalist, almost ‘90s house flavoured jam.

Switch -  Da Cut! xx   5/5

Diplo - Space Man!  4/5

Nick Catchdubs - Just in time for the presidential race! great stuff and ace remix package, loving roska roska roska in particular.  4/5

Catz 'n' Dogz - Fantastic release !! Colour Her Hair is a great track!  4/5

Christian Martin - The whole EP is dope! Love the deepness of Color Her Hair.  4/5
